A few words about the Poet: Georgios Souris (1853 - 1919) came from Syros and was one of the greatest satirical poets of modern Greece. He satirized the social and political events of the time with sharp wit, publishing the weekly newspaper O Romios from 1883 to 1918. He belonged to the anti-romantic generation of the 1880s, which sought simplicity of expression as well as poetry in the familiar, the mundane.

A few words about the Sculptor: The sculptor Georgios Dimitriadis (1880 - 1941) is considered the most prolific of the modern Greek sculptors, with numerous works, statues and busts, in every region of Greece. In 1924 he won the first prize at the 1924 Olympic Games in France with his statue "Discobolus", and in 1936 he was elected an academic and awarded the Award of Excellence in Sculpture.
